What is Smart and Skilled?
Smart and Skilled is the NSW Government’s vocational training funding program. It gives eligible NSW residents an entitlement to government-subsidised training up to and including Certificate III, plus funding for selected higher-level qualifications. Training is delivered by approved providers, and the government pays a large share of the course cost so you pay only a subsidised student fee.
Which beauty and nail courses are funded?
The courses available are set out on the NSW Skills List, which is reviewed regularly. In the nail and beauty field, the SHB30321 Certificate III in Nail Technology is a subsidised qualification under Smart and Skilled, with a student fee that is often only around a few hundred dollars for eligible students (fees are set by the program and can change). Who is eligible?
Eligibility is confirmed when you apply, but generally, to access Smart and Skilled funding you need to:
- Live or work in New South Wales
- Be aged 15 or over and no longer at school
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder, or New Zealand citizen
